Autumn has arrived and it’s that time of the year when skin complaints can get aggravated. Have you noticed that your acne around the mouth has increased or that your itchy patches of skin are more noticeable?

After summer season the body likes to clear out any accumulation of heat from the hot season. Optimal Digestion Tips

The key to smoothly transitioning into autumn for everyone (including those with skin conditions) is good digestion. Here are some tips to help you optimise your digestion.

The digestive system is responsible for all the energy production and metabolism that takes place in your body. It provides the nourishment for the formation and maintenance of your bones, blood, tissues, cells and organ systems.

  • Eat according to your appetite
    Forgetting mum’s advice about it being polite to eat everything on your plate, eat to suit your hunger. If you can’t digest the food it will just sit in your stomach and create a sticky substance that causes blockages in the body.
  • Eat in a settled manner.
    This means sitting to eat and turning the TV off. When we are eating we want to be in a relaxed frame of mind.  When we are tense or excited our body goes into the flight or fight response, our blood flows to the extremities ready for action, and away from the digestive system thus weakening the digestive processes.
  • Eat at regular mealtimes.
    Our bodies thrive on good routine. Our metabolism gets used to processing food at a certain rate and if we give it a regular intake of food, it can provide us with a constant supply of energy.  If we skip meals or over-indulge, the digestive system spends a lot of energy coping with the changes.
Live in accordance with nature’s cycles.
    Midday is the best time to eat your main meal. The sun is highest in the sky and our digestive fires are also strongest. Food eaten at this time is more easily digested than a meal taken at night. During the night, metabolism is taking place on a cellular level; the body is cleaning out the impurities in the physiology. If you are struggling to digest a heavy meal, the overall metabolism is impeded.
  • Eat, drink and be merry!
    When we are happy, we create chemicals in the brain, which are conducive to good health.  Sitting down to a meal in a pleasant environment with family and friends will be more easily digested than miserably ploughing through plates of the healthiest food imaginable.
  • Support your immunity for effective cleansing
